The time is now! is a project promoted by the European Institute of Design (IED) in collaboration with the Italian Consortium for Detox Implementation and Greenpeace Italy. The project will lead to the creation of some sustainable fashion collections.
The Time is Now! was born with the selection, by a special jury, of a group of IED students of the 3rd year of the Fashion Design and Fashion Stylist Courses of the Milan, Rome, Florence, Turin and Como offices.
The group of 16 chosen designers will work on the presentation of the collections on the occasion of Pitti Immagine Uomo in June 2019.
The time is now! it was presented on January 7, 2019 at the Textile Museum, on the occasion of Pitti Immagine Uomo in January 2019.
In this first phase of study on the theme of sustainable fashion, the students, together with the journalists, were accompanied on a tour to discover the district of the fashion chain of Prato, where "made in Italy" means "sustainability".
On this occasion, they visited some companies involved in Detox and selected for environmentally friendly processes, such as the GIDA centralized treatment plant, the Lanificio Mario Bellucci producer of regenerated fabrics and the Jersey Mode dyeing and finishing company. The students were also able to discover the spaces of the Textile Museum and the Buzzi LAB analysis laboratory, specialized in analysis and research in the textile and clothing sector.
