Food and wine event to promote the territory through its excellences that counts an annual event in the summer months and a series of events, seminars and meetings scattered throughout the rest of the year on a larger territory.
The Municipality of Prato, the Municipalities of the former province, consortia of producers, trade associations, the Route of Carmignano wines have teamed up to promote the Beauty and the Good of the Prato area.
In a weekend in June, Piazza del Comune is transformed into a large open-air kitchen with cooking shows, tastings and workshops with tasting stalls. The shows of chef and local restaurateurs are alternated with lessons of pastry chefs, well anchored to the territory but internationally renowned and often awarded. You can taste the best products of Prato enogastronomy: the mortadella with alchermes, which obtained the IGP, the stone-ground flour bread, the famous and appreciated almond biscuits, the vermouth that seems to have been created in Prato, the prestigious wines produced by the ancient vineyards of Carmignano, which obtained the first DOCG, recognized by Cosimo III de 'Medici in the famous proclamation of 1716.
During all the event restaurants, wine bars and bistros of Prato will offer special menus and gourmet aperitifs with Prato specialties, and some of the most renowned chefs in Florence will offer menus and dishes specifically thought with Prato products.
The challenge is also online between famous and followed food bloggers called to Prato to compete with menu based on local products. The goal is to create the perfect recipe, which can enhance the culinary tradition of Prato with creative innovation. The finalist recipes of the food contest are the undisputed protagonists of a final event in the square.
